Hi, I'm Eva Joy Broughton

For as long as I can remember my love for children and the presence of art have created a backdrop to my life. Raised in the deep woods of Pennsylvania surrounded by my artistic family, I was immersed in nature and often found myself lost in imagination with my dolls, who were as real to me as any human baby. My passion for children endured as I grew up and chased the sunshine to San Diego, where I nannied and worked in childcare. It was in California that I also reconnected with my passion for art and design and in 2007 I completed a bachelor of fine arts degree in interior design.

It was years later during a search for a baby shower gift worthy of being opened in front of many oohing and ahhing eyes that I had an idea. I could hand-paint something for the baby's nursery. It would be a unique and meaningful present and something that wouldn't be quickly outgrown. Yay! But now I had to figure out what to paint...that was when I remembered my adoration for vintage children's books.

Many of these books were no longer in print and with the pages too fragile to be handled by young children, I was struck with sadness that these beautiful illustrations would be lost forever. So I started creating one-of-a-kind paintings with the intention of honouring these illustrations, bringing them back into view as nursery room art for children to enjoy once again.

As I started to share my work online and at farmer's markets, friends and family became excited to commission their favourite images.

There have been many different iterations of life over the last 15 years. Moving from San Diego to LA and then across the globe to beautiful Sydney, Australia. In those transitions, I was able to reconnect with my passions of art and children and recently made a career change back into the world of Early Childhood. Today I still paint from vintage illustrations, but I also paint commissioned pieces based on other's visions. So whether you have your own little one, one on the way, or a wish to create a special gift for someone else, I would love to work with you to create something truly special.
